Wind power is a clean alternative to electricity from fossil fuels. One wind turbine with a capacity of 1.5 MW can mitigate about 64,000 tons over its lifetime of 20 year. Imagine the impact of a wind park with over 20 turbines.

WATER POWERWATER POWER

Water power

For millennia water has been used as natural energy source. Today, water power still accounts for a 15% share of global power generation. For the utilization of hydropower turbines convert the kinetic energy of water into clean electricity.

 

Our projects help tap the potential of this carbon free energy source by supporting small-scale water power projects in rural areas of developing countries.

 

ARKTIK only supports run-of-the-river hydroelectric plants which take advantage of the natural height drop of the river rather than using a reservoir. In contrast to large scale water power projects, our projects, therefore, do not involve large dams and the consequent flooding of upstream habitats for people, animals and plants.

SOLAR POWERSOLAR POWER

Solar power

Solar energy can be converted by solar cells or solar thermal power plants in electricity.

 

Simple solar panels offer an effective and climate neutral solution for domestic heating and warm water supply. No more than 10 m2 of solar collectors are required to cover about 25% of the annual heat demand of an average household – even in rainy Germany.
